نہ تو زمیں کے لیے ہے نہ آسماں کے لیے

جہاں ہے تیرے لیے تو نہیں جہاں کے لیے

It is neither for the earth nor for the sky Where is for you, not for where

یہ عقل و دل ہیں شرر شعلۂ محبت کے

وہ خار و خس کے لیے ہے یہ نیستاں کے لیے

These are the hearts and minds of the evil flame of love It is for itching and this is for nestlingمقام       

پرورش آہ و نالہ ہے یہ چمن

نہ سیر گل کے لیے ہے نہ آشیاں کے لیے

This chaman is the place of upbringing 

The walk is not for the gulls nor for the squeamish

رہے گا راوی و نیل و فرات میں کب تک

ترا سفینہ کہ ہے بحر بیکراں کے
